On Thanksgiving morning, New Frontier Home Care team members were awake bright and early to help Interfaith Ministries Meals on Wheels Houston deliver 10,000 hot Thanksgiving day meals to homebound seniors over the age of 60. The Meals on Wheels Houston Program delivers freshly cooked meals to seniors everyday who have lost the mobility to move around and cook as they once were able to.
This was an event the New Frontier Home Care team was very proud to be a part of. Our company goal and mission is to help seniors continue to age peacefully and remain independent in the comfort of their own home. So any opportunity we get to help contribute, especially by volunteering, we are all for it. New Frontier Home Care also went a step further by not just delivering hot meals, but by helping raise money to reach the goal of $50,000. These funds help cover the cost of the 10,000 meals that were prepared and delivered.
The event was held at the First Presbyterian Church located at 5300 Main Street, Houston Texas. Volunteers came from all parts of Houston and were brought together by the love of helping others and reassuring families that they are not forgotten about. After arriving and gathering our meals to deliver, we were assigned routes we had to deliver to. Both addresses we received were located in Humble, TX. The first home we delivered to was home to a couple who have been married for 47 years. Boy were they happy to see us! They invited us in and told us how happy and thankful they were to have this program along with us to deliver such a wonderful meal. After chatting for over 30 minutes, we were off to our next address.
The next stop we went to was home to a senior woman who had no family in the Houston area. She stated she normally spends holidays alone and looks forward to these meals due to her loss of mobility caused by her aching knees. She was very appreciative and could not thank us enough.
Interfaith Ministries Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving is an annual event. They also offer several other volunteer opportunities throughout the year and New Frontier Home Care encourages everyone who is willing and able to get involved with this great organization.
New Frontier Home Care stands strong behind our mission and will do whatever it takes, going above and beyond, to make sure seniors remain happy and comfortable in whatever place they call home.
